Artist Statement: I have not been an artist for very long and, as I’ve matured, I have found my source of inspiration – the subtropical rainforests of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, situated in southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales – the area in which I live! This painting is of The Pinnacle, part of the Border Ranges, which I can see from my house. Legend has it that it was a “female” spirit that lived there and it is where the local indigenous women went to give birth. I love this story.
Materials and process: After experimenting with pastels, acrylics, pencil, etc. I have found that my favourite is oils. I paint on canvas, then after varnishing with semi-gloss, I have them framed in raw oak.
