“It’s a conceptual piece,” Coral says, after learning the ballgown, made of toilet paper, surgical masks and newspaper clippings, has won the Vale Award in the Ocean Shores Art Expo.
The Art Expo has donated $1000 to the school to allow three award winners to undertake a BSA workshop, valued at about $335 each, or put their prize money towards a longer BSA course.
An internationally recognised art photographer and an assistant director of Queensland’s Gallery of Modern Art will judge this year’s Ocean Shores Art Expo.
The Echo Awards, held every five years, took place on the 9th June 2021 at the Bangalow Bowlo. It celebrated 35 years of local independent journalism in the Northern Rivers.
