The Frank Mills Historical Award
For many years, The Vale Award has been donated by Elizabeth Tomlinson who retired to Middle Pocket in 2016. Elizabeth operates a luxury Farm Stay and breeds Hereford cattle on her farm. Elizabeth, in conjunction with the OSAE Committee decided to change the name of the award to the Frank Mills Historical Award in recognition of Frank’s extensive contribution to our local community.
Frank played a significant role in establishing the original form of the “Ocean Shores Art & History Expo”. His slideshows about aspects of the community’s history, especially in relation to our indigenous history were featured at several Expos. Frank was a wonderfully generous humble spirit, had a passion for our community and extraordinary knowledge of our history.
The Frank Mills Historical Award is chosen by the Ocean Shores Art Expo Committee and provides an added level of recognition to Expo artists.
Elizabeth has been involved in the art industry for over 40 years, as a collector, Foundation member and Contemporary Patron of QAGOMA, and generally supporting emerging artists. Elizabeth is presently the President of the Ocean Shores Art Expo.
