# The Narcissist
Artist: Shane Thwaites
Instagram: dr_s_t_art
Artwork size (in cm): 40 x 50
Artwork Price: $666
Artist Statement: The Narcissist” explores self-perception and vanity through chiaroscuro, highlighting the figure’s exaggerated features and dark, open mouth as symbols of an insatiable need for validation. This void represents how self-obsession often harms those around the individual.
Through this piece, I aim to provoke reflection on the balance between self-esteem and humility, and the impact of narcissism on personal relationships
Materials and process: Created using premium French oil paints and mediums on Italian cotton canvas. The carefully prepared ground enhances paint adherence and luminosity. The piece is gallery wrapped, offering a clean, modern presentation without a frame. These details enhance its quality, making it a valuable addition to any collection.
