Winners of prizemoney totalling $8200 will be announced at the Awards Night, 7pm on Friday 23rd August. The two $100 Viewer’s Choice Awards, one chosen by Adults and the other by children, will be announced prior to the exhibition closing on Sunday afternoon.

The $2000 Vale Award

Committee Vice President Elizabeth Tomlinson , proprietor The Vale Luxury Farm Stay at Middle Pocket has doubled the Vale Award to $2000. Elizabeth has a long association with the Queensland Art Gallery and is passionate about the arts and is a regular guide at GOMA.
She will be curating the 2109 exhibition & as a new resident, is keen to support local artists. The Vale Award is judged by the members of the Art Expo committee.

The $1000 Ocean Shores Jubilee Prize

This year’s overarching theme is “Celebrating a Moment”. If artists choose a subject which captures celebrating an aspect of Ocean Shores* history, they will be eligible for the $1000 Jubilee Award, to be judged by the O S Jubilee Committee. The work will also be eligible for all other awards.

*Ocean Shores and district refers to the coastal area north of the Brunswick River, up to the Tweed border at Wooyung Road. This is the extent of the northern land purchases made by Wendell West. The town of Ocean Shores and the villages of Billinudgel, South Golden Beach and New Brighton, plus rural areas of The Pocket, Middle Pocket, Yelgun, Wooyung make up this district of The Pocket Valley and Northern Byron coast.

There are 7 categories. Each has a $500 first & $200 second prize. The large Oil & Acrylic section also has two joint 3rd prizes, each of $ 150. Digital Art & Photography are now separate categories.
