This year’s Ocean Shores Art Expo will help fund the development of local artists through the creation of the Byron School of Art Development Award.
The Art Expo has donated $1000 to the school to allow three award winners to undertake a BSA workshop, valued at about $335 each, or put their prize money towards a longer BSA course.
The school will choose the award winners, to be announced on October 9.
“One of the aims of the Ocean Shores Art Expo is to support the development of artists in our community,” expo president Elizabeth Tomlinson said.
“We thought giving three artists the chance to attend the Byron School of Art would be a great way to help creatives of any age to flourish.”
Anything Goes is the theme of this year’s expo which will be held exclusively online from October 9.
As well as the BSA development awards, on offer are the $1000 Vale award, plus prize money of $500 for first place and $200 for second place in the categories of watercolour and gouache; printmaking, drawing and pastels; oil and acrylic; mixed media; sculpture and 3D art; photography; and digital art.
“All works will be available for viewing and sale online for four weeks,” Ms Tomlinson said.
