Artist: Katka Adams
My work often touches on habitat loss and the human – nature connection. I am captivated by nature’s denizens, particularly birds. At this time of year, the silky oaks stand out in the landscape wearing their stunning grevillea flowers like gowns of shimmering gold. I couldn’t resist drawing one and adding a tiny silvereye. The fragility and freedom of the bird together with the strength and permanence of the tree seems a tender and beautiful celebration of life’s tapestry.
Materials and process:
This work is made on hot pressed 300gsm Arches paper, made with 100%cotton. It is strong with a beautiful feel and smooth texture.
I used coloured pencils to place layers of marks. The work is mounted with white matt board under perspex, with a white frame.
Size: 320mm(W) x 420mm(H)
