Artist Statement:
I have been a graphic designer for over 30 years and have continually concerned myself with pixels (and how to avoid them!). I wanted to create something that makes the pixel the ‘hero’ and chose Yoda as my subject – small in size, yet powerful and represents wisdom and self discipline.
Materials and process:
I created the image in adobe illustrator and used it as a base template to build upon. Each ‘pixel/tile’ was hand cut from individual sheets of A4 glitter card (approx 4,800 pixels/tiles) and glued on to the template individually. Wise&Shine became a labour of love for many many weeks I would find it difficult to part with!
